Now originally there is supposed to be the microphone it's self, an XLR to 6.3mm jack cable and a "swivel adapter" according to the data sheet that I could find. Mine came with an XLR to 6.3mm jack cable and the microphone itself but I've got XLR to XLR cables that I can use and more mic clips that I could ever need at this point.
It's a microphone by Shure, it's solid. Considering that this was a microphone that, from what I can find, was launched in 1988 and discontinued in 1997. It's a weighty metal body mic with an on off switch that functions with a slight pop whenever it's used but given that it's quite possibly pushing 40 years old, we can allow for some slight quirks.
Below are 2 recordings, one with the XLR to Jack cable that came with the mic and one using an XLR to XLR cable that I already had. The difference in output is staggering with the XLR to XLR recording sounding somewhat useable if you were just wanting to get recording on the cheap, whereas the XLR to 6.3mm cable has so much noise!
The only effects I've applied to both tracks are a Audacity's default compressor settings and -1.0dB to try and get everything to the same output level.
For something to read, I grabbed The Twits by Roald Dahl and read Chapter 1 & 2.
